Body piercing: The bull nose ring

What is a bull nose piercing?

The bull nose ring, or the septum piercing, is a ring that you wear on your nostrils or your septum. “Septum” is the wall between your nostrils. Let’s check out some Q&A.

Is it going to hurt?

Because the actual piercing is not done through the cartilage and when you get it done by a professional piercer, you will hardly feel any pain!

How is it done?

The professional will clean the area, which includes trimming your nose hairs. Then, the area will be cleaned with an antiseptic to remove germs and prevent infection. Also, the artist may clamp the septum to numb the area and reduce pain. Next, the needle will then be inserted just below the nasal cartilage. And finally, the clamp will then be removed, and a piece of jewelry will be inserted. There will be a little bit of blood, but there’s no need to be alarmed.

Where is it placed?

Septum piercingAn expert uses the “sweet spot”, called this way because it is soft and easier to pierce, below the cartilaginous wall dividing the right and left septum. So, it is just the skin of the septum that is being pierced. This piercing is usually done towards the front of the nose, allowing jewelry to hang freely.

What type of jewelry is used?

Different rings like horseshoes and captive rings can be used as septum jewelry.

How long does it take to heal?

Generally speaking, nose piercings take longer to heal than some others because of the presence of bacteria. It may take approximately from 10 to 12 weeks to heal completely.

The septum is a fantastic, interesting piercing that a whole load of jewelry can be worn in, stretched up, or hidden. Whatever takes your fancy!
