How to Take Care of Healing a Single-Point Piercing?

What is a Single-Point Piercing?

Also known as dermal piercing, this eye-catching body embellishment is embedded in the dermal layer with an anchor to keep it in place, without an exit point. This means that it is not pierced through the skin like a traditional surface piercing.

This type of piercing can be inserted by either using a regular piercing needle or with a dermal punch. However, the method you prefer, the healing process usually takes from 8 to 12 weeks. If you have made up your mind to get a single-point piercing, here are some aftercare tips from Mantra Tattoo expert piercers.

Single-Point Piercing Aftercare

What is a Single-Point PiercingFirst, wash your hands with an antibacterial soap before touching your dermal piercing. Next, if possible, put on a pair of gloves to start the cleaning process. To clean a single-point piercing, you don’t need soap as it is drying, and it can delay the healing process.

Just like with any other piercing, don’t soap it up directly in the water. Instead, use a saline solution to soak it twice a day, and mist it regularly in between soaks with the spray recommended by your piercer. The saline solution will hydrate the skin and encourages healing. You can enhance it with tea tree oil, which is a natural moisturizer and antiseptic.

Finally, for a single-point piercing to heal well and last, good hygiene, in general, is paramount. Also, you should eat well, get lots of sleep, and avoid nicotine!
